Ridgefield Police Update: Home Invasion in 2011 on Ivy Hill Road

This press release is an update to the home invasion that occurred at 267 Ivy Hill Rd.

On September 17, 2011 at 00:46 hours, the Ridgefield Police Department received a call from the homeowner at 267 Ivy Hill Rd. reporting that she heard someone on the first floor of her residence. Officers responded, searched the surrounding areas, however were unable to locate the subject.

It was determined that the suspect fled the residence prior to the police department's arrival. Through fingerprint and DNA evidence that Ridgefield Detectives found at the scene, it was determined that Bartraka Zajkowski (DOB 04-27-1990) was responsible for the home invasion. An arrest warrant was obtained for Zajkowski for the crimes of Home Invasion and Burglary. With the help of the U.S. Marshall's Service, Zajkowski was located in Queens, NY in June of 2012 and subsequently arrested.

On 05/09/2014 Zajkowski pled guilty and was sentenced in Danbury Superior Court to 15 years in prison for this crime.

Zajkowski was also involved in another home invasion in 2011 which occurred in Bedford, NY. Zajkowsi was sentenced to an additional 10 years in Federal Prison for this crime.
