Ribbon Cutting for New Traffic Light on Route 7

Come celebrate the long-awaited installation of the new traffic light on Route 7 at the driveway of three senior communities - The Regency at Ridgefield, Laurel Ridge Health Care Center, and Ridgefield Crossings.

The Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, August 28, at 2:30 PM, at Ridgefield Crossings, 640 Danbury Road, Ridgefield. This traffic light, just north of the intersection of Route 35 and Route 7, addresses the safety concerns for this heavily travelled section of road where many accidents have occurred in the past. The origins of this light stems as far back as 1997 when Laurelwood (now Laurel Ridge), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, was being built on the property. After multiple attempts to secure a light, the request was revived in 2005 when the Toll Brothers' "Regency at Ridgefield" 55+ senior complex was under development and then again later went it was finally completed in June 2014.

The community, along with staff, residents, and family members at both Laurel Ridge and Ridgefield Crossings, would like to personally thank First Selectman Rudy Marconi, State Representative John Frey, Town Engineer, Charles Fischer and the CT DOT, among many others, for their tireless work to see this project through to completion. The ribbon cutting celebration is sponsored by the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce and two of its members, Ridgefield Crossings and Laurel Ridge. Several local and State representatives are expected to be present at the event to honor the accomplishment.
