If you have lived through a recent major weather situation in Ridgefield, you might remember CTAlert Messages with the latest information of conditions, power restoration, etc. Well, First Selectman Rudy Marconi has begun sending residents update messages through CTAlert Message (click on link to register to receive them via phone, email or text).
Here is the text to his first:
This is First Selectman Rudy Marconi. I am calling to update you on our response plans for the severe snow storm. We are anticipating accumulations of 24-to-30 inches of snow and high winds over the next 24 hours and well into Tuesday. Extra Police and Fire/EMS, and Town Highway personnel have been called in. Emergency Management personnel are at work.
The Governor has declared a state of emergency and is asking all of us to stay off state roads after 9 pm. We have declared a local state of emergency. Vehicles on the road create dangerous obstructions for the plow crews and will slow clearing operations. Please do not park on any of our streets.
We are also working with CL&P and state agencies to mediate any outages as soon as it is safe for linemen to work on the poles. It is very important that you notify CL&P if your power is interrupted. Report outages to 800-286-2000.
Run generators only outside the home and garage away from windows and air intakes. Follow the manufacturers’ instructions carefully.
Please remember that 911 is for police, fire or medical emergencies only.
We will keep you up to date using CT Alert Calls like this one. We’ll also be posting updates on
the town website www.ridgefieldct.org and with local radio stations. Stay warm, dry and safe.
