One Person Critically Injured in Last Night's Casagmo Fire

State Fire Marshal to be on the scene of Casagmo Fire today

Last night at about 7:00 pm a fire broke out at Cook Close in Casagmo. EMS from Danbury, Georgetown, and Wilton aided Ridgefield Fire Department, who, said First Selectman Rudy Marconi, "did a great job containing the fire."  There were injuries and we were told by First Selectman Rudy Marconi that the elderly homeowner needed to be resuscitated.

We just heard from Dick Aarons, Deputy Director, Office of Emergency Management for Ridgefield who said that the State Fire Marshal will be on the scene today in a joint investigation with local Fire Marshal Dave Lathrop.

Aarons told us that three people were injured as a result of the fire. "The mother was in the critical care unit at Danbury [Hospital]," said Aarons. The woman's son, who helped her during the fire, suffered burns on his arms and upper body. "He was transported to Bridgeport Burn Center," said Aarons. The woman's younger son was also burned but, Aarons said, "He was expected to be released."

All of the Casagmo residents who were evacuated were able to return to their units, although the units did not have heat.
