Ridgefield Police Reports: suspicious person at Hideaway, youth party, evading police, theft, DUI & more

July 23- 24 year old Milford resident turned himself in on an outstanding warrant that the Ridgefield Police Department issued for failure to appear. He was released on a $750.00 cash bond to appear at Danbury Superior Court on 8/12/15. The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred on 5/14/15 when the individual failed to appear for a possession of marijuana charge.

July 24- A suspicious person call came in at the Hideaway Restaurant. Investigation revealed that a 27 year old Ridgefield male attempted to break into an unoccupied vehicle. The male was taken into custody and released on a written promise to appear. He was given a court date of 8/1/15 located at Danbury Superior Court.  

July 24- Subsequent to an investigation of a suspicious motor vehicle parked in the Maple Shade Cemetery, the operator, a 20 year old Ridgefield male, was found to be in possession of alcohol and drug paraphernalia. He was issued an infraction by an officer after the use of K-9 Loki.

July 25- Subsequent to a noise complaint call on Spring Valley Road, it was discovered that several youths were playing live music while in possession of alcohol and/ or drugs. A brief investigation revealed that the homeowners were away and their 19 year old son was hosting an underage party. Six other individuals ranging from 19 to 20 years old were issued infractions for possession of alcohol by a minor and/or infractions for possession of drug paraphernalia. The host was issued a misdemeanor summons for possession of alcohol by minors. He was released to a responsible party on a written promise to appear at the Danbury Superior Court on 8/11/15 to answer for the above said charges. All other individuals were picked up at the residence.   

July 26- Ridgefield Police had made a motor vehicle stop for a speeding violation. Investigation revealed that the passenger was in possession of Drug paraphernalia and marijuana. The individual was issued a Jv summons and is to appear in Danbury Juvenile Court on 08/17/15.

July 28- The Ridgefield Police Department responded to the intersection of Danbury Road and Copps Hill Road for the report of a 2 car motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival it was determined that a green pick up truck had fled the scene and was last seen traveling west on Copps Hill Road. An officer observed a vehicle matching that description with front end damage on North Street. The vehicle then increased its speed in attempt to evade the officer. The vehicle was eventually blocked on Mapleshade and pulled over for the officer. The operator, a 37 year old Ridgefield male, was taken into custody and processed at the Ridgefield Police Department. He was released on a $35 cash bond to appear at the Danbury Superior Court on August 25, 2015.

July 29- A gas station attendant from the Stateline Getty observed a 23 year old Ridgefield male resident attempt to steal $180 from the register. When officers arrived on the scene, the individual  attempted to run from the officers. He was arrested and was released on a $210 bond and assigned a court date of 8/12/15 to answer for the above charges.

July 29- An officer observed a vehicle following another vehicle too closely and conducted a motor vehicle stop. An investigation revealed that 3 of the passengers in the vehicle were in possession of marijuana or drug paraphernalia. All individuals, 19 or 20 year olds from Yonkers, NY were issued infractions and were released from the scene.

July 30- While on patrol, police observed a vehicle traveling north on Main Street. The vehicle was clocked traveling 48 mph in a 25 mph zone. The vehicle was stopped and during the course of the investigation it was revealed that the operator, who was under the age of 21, was under the influence of alcohol. The sixteen year old Massachusetts resident was placed under arrest and charged with traveling fast, DUI, and operating a motor vehicle without a license. The individual was unable to post bond and was held overnight.
