Ridgefield Public Schools Warn of SPAM Text Messages
We have been alerted that many of our students began receiving inappropriate text messages to their cell phones the past few days. Cell phone text messages are not connected to our Ridgefield Public Schools network accounts nor do those messages pass through our network. As a school district, we don’t have the ability to monitor and block spam that go to cell phone text messages.
It is our recommendation that you look into options your cell phone company has to report and block spam text messages. Please also be aware that spam text messages count towards your monthly text message quota, unless you have unlimited text messages on your plan. Listed below are some of the strategies you may consider doing.

Never click on a link in a SPAM text message

Don’t respond directly to a SPAM text message

Report the SPAM text message sender’s phone number to your cell phone company.

AT&T and Verizon: Forward these SPAM text messages to 7726 (which are free on their network.

SPRINT: Block messages from your phone using code 9999

AT&T will also accept reported SPAM numbers at abuse@att.net
