Ridgefield Police Reports: Larcenies from Motor Vehicles, D.U.I., MVA with Injuries, & More

On July 15, officers responded to a two car accident on Route 7 near the intersection of Cains Hill Rd. Investigation revealed that vehicle 1 was towing a boat south on Route 7 when it was struck by vehicle 2, which was attempting to turn west on Cains Hill Rd. Operator 2 was transported to Danbury Hospital for further evaluation. Operator 2 was issued an infraction for failure to grant right of way at an intersection. The boat became dislodged from the trailer and was removed from the road by a heavy wrecker.

On July 23, a vehicle was traveling southbound on N. Salem Rd. and made a left hand turn onto Wooster St. At this point the vehicle hit a bicyclist in the intersection of Wooster St. as he was traveling northbound on N. Salem Rd. The operator of the vehicle was issued an infraction for failure to grant right of way at an intersection to person riding a bicycle.

On July 25, at approximately 11:58 pm, a Ridgefield Police officer observed a vehicle driving erratically as it traveled north on Danbury Rd. After a motor vehicle stop was initiated the operator continued to demonstrate characteristics of being under the influence of drugs/alcohol. The operator then failed a standardized field sobriety test. She was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and failure to drive in established lane. She was issued a misdemeanor summons and is due to appear at Danbury Superior Court on August 12, 2016. She was released from police headquarters on a $100.00 cash bond.

On July 26, at 3:10 am, police observed a Subaru traveling northbound on Danbury Rd. with a headlight out. After an investigation the operator was arrested for D.U.I. The operator was transported to Ridgefield Police Headquarters where he was processed and given a court date. He was released on a $100.00 bond.

Larcenies from Motor Vehicles

The Ridgefield Police Department is currently investigating multiple larcenies from motor vehicles that have occurred between July 17 and July 21. There have been a total of three different vehicles entered during this time period that have been reported to the police. On all occasions a window on the vehicle has been smashed and various items reported stolen. The incidents on the following dates and times:

On July 17 between 5:30 pm and 6:05 pm in the Parks and Recreation parking lot located at 195 Danbury Rd.

On July 21 between 6:45 pm and 7:20 pm on the Parks and Recreation parking lot located at 195 Danbury Rd.

On July 21 between 6:30 pm and 7:20 pm in the Dog Park/Scalzo Field parking area located off of Prospect Ridge Rd.
