Ridgefield Police Request Public's Help to ID Two Persons Wanted for Larceny

Ridgefield Police Investigate Larceny

The Ridgefield Police Department is currently investigating the following incidents and is requesting the public’s help in identify two persons of interest.

- On October 11, 2016 at approximately 4:00 pm two men entered a business in Copps Hill Plaza and handed the clerk $500.00 in one hundred dollar bills and asked for $500.00 in twenty dollar bills in return. The clerk provided the men with $500.00 in twenty dollar bills at which time they requested that the change be made in fifty dollar bills instead. The clerk advised the men that they were unable to provide the change in fifty dollar bills at which point the clerk handed back the $500.00 in one hundred dollar bills to the men and the men handed the clerk the twenty-dollar bills. The men left the store, and a short time later the clerk realized that the men only handed back $340.00 in twenty dollar bills. The total loss in this incident was $160.00.

- On October 11, 2016 at approximately 4:50 pm a male entered a bank on Main St. and handed the teller $3600.00 in one hundred dollar bills and asked for fifty dollar bills in return. The teller then handed the individual $3600.00 in fifty dollar bills. The individual then stated that he needed the change to be in five dollar bills not fifty-dollar bills, which the teller stated he could not do. The teller then gave $3600.00 in one hundred dollar bills back to the individual who then handed the teller the fifty dollar bills. It was later determined that the male only handed back $1900.00 in fifty dollar bills to the teller. The total loss in this incident was $1700.00.

Both individuals were reported as having unknown foreign accents.
