Ridgefield Police Take Suspect Into Custody After Foot Chase Near Ridgefield High School

At approximately 1:30 this afternoon Bedford Police Department contacted Ridgefield Police about a man who was in a dispute in the town of Bedford and believed to have traveled to Ridgefield.

Bedford and Ridgefield Police located the suspect’s vehicle on O’Neill Court. “The man was not in the vehicle and we believed he was somewhere on foot so our officers and Bedford officers began searching for him. We used K-9 officers from NYS as well as our K-9 officer,” explained Ridgefield Police Major Stephen Brown.

Police from both departments located the suspect about 45 minutes later on Craigmoor Road, which is in very close proximity to Ridgefield High School.

Ridgefield Police took the man into custody.

“We did recommend to the schools to have students stay in the buildings at RHS and Scotts Ridge, just out of caution,” said Brown.
