Ridgefield Police Crackdown on Texting While Driving

Crackdown on Texting While Driving

During the month of April the Ridgefield Police Department is participating in the “U DRIVE. U TEXT. U PAY.” initiative– an effort to crackdown on motorists who choose to text, talk or otherwise distract themselves from the task of driving by using a hand-held mobile phone.

The Ridgefield Police Department will have extra patrols on certain days specifically looking for cell phone and texting violations. Under Connecticut’s cell phone and texting law fines range from $150.00 for a first offense, $300.00 for a second offense, and $500.00 for each subsequent offense.

The Ridgefield Police Department, through the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office, received funds to pay for this enforcement initiative. Please Drive Safely!
