Charlotte's Web of Prayer Seeking Players and Donors to May 29 Golf Outing to Benefit Acts 4 Ministry

Charlotte’s Web of Prayer in Cheshire will host the Dylan Fortunato Memorial Golf Outing and dinner Friday, May 29 from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Timberlin Golf Club in Berlin, Conn.. All proceeds from the tournament will go to the families of Charlotte's Web of Prayer, Yale New Haven Pediatrics, and to support Acts 4 Ministry, Inc. in Waterbury. The organization is currently seeking players and donations and the deadline for both player participation and all sponsorships is Friday, May 15, 2015.

Chris DePaolo, creator of Charlotte’s Web of Prayer, explained, “I created Charlotte's Web of Prayer while at the Yale Pediatric ICU with my then-3 year old daughter Charlotte who suddenly had become violently ill. Over several days and dozens of tests, we learned she had had multiple strokes. Blessedly, while she was in the hospital, five separate prayer chains were established across the region to help us through this horrific ordeal.

While I was in the Pediatrics ward, I saw other children and their families go through the same struggles we were. Once Charlotte was well, I set up a large prayer network to pray for children and their families with life threatening and terminal illnesses and to help them meet their basic needs and financial burdens.”

Charlotte’s Web Prayer was created by DePaolo to help alleviate the financial devastation caused by having a child who becomes ill and becomes hospitalized. He commented, “We could have faced a $156,000 bill for two weeks in the ICU. Families like ours are often faced with the impossible choice of being in the hospital to care for their child or go to work so they can put food on the table and not get kicked out of their homes. Most choose to be with their kids but end up in serious financial problems, on top of the distress of having a sick child.”

In 2008 DePaolo learned of the generous ways the non-denominational non-profit Acts 4 Ministry, Inc. that supports the day-to-day living needs of families and individuals who are in dire financial distress and have lost virtually everything they possess to a fire, flood, or other devastating life event. He learned of how the organization meets people’s basic needs so he contacted them to form a collaborative ambition to support each other’s missions.

Acts 4 Ministry, Inc. Executive Director Sarah Elizabeth Carabetta commented, “We admire the perseverance of the DePaolo family and support their mission and the efforts of Charlotte’s Web of Prayer. Our organization gratefully accepts donations of clothing, furniture and housewares that we distribute to individuals and families in need throughout the Greater Waterbury area. Our ambition is to provide people in distressing situations with everything they need for day-to-day living. We feel blessed to know of the unity, prayers and love ill children across the nation are receiving through Charlotte’s Web of Prayer.”

Players are being sought for the May 29th golf outing. They can participate with a donation of $150/person which includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, bag lunch, steak dinner and a full buffet. Sponsors are also currently being sought. Dinner sponsorships are $2,500, Platinum sponsors are a $1,000 donation level; Gold are the $500 level; Silver are welcomed at the $250 donation level; and Bronze sponsors at $100 donation level.

“In addition to the donations from the Outing players,” explained DePaolo. We welcome donations of any size.” All donations can be contributed by sending checks made payable to Charlotte’s Web of Prayer with “Golf Outing” written in the memo line and U.S. Mailed to Chris DePaolo at 771 Allen Avenue in Cheshire, CT 06410.
