The Southbury Film Commission (SFC) is pleased to announce that it will once again co-sponsor with the Alliance Francaise of Northwestern Connecticut (AFNWCT), a Short Film Festival from Eurochannel's 7th Annual Short Films Tour titled "My Dear Family" showcasing European culture and cinematographic heritage, the art of short films, with a rich programming of productions. Some are as short as 5 minutes and as long as 30 minutes.
The family has been the core of European society and the vital energy that moves countries and changes almost every aspect of life, from economics, to politics, to arts. The Seventh Eurochannel Short Films Tour will capture this familiar spirit and treat the viewers and cinema lovers with stories about families, their challenges and greatest accomplishments. The nuclear European family traditionally consisted of a married father and mother with several children, but today this is only one option among many. Despite the modern day variances, Europeans continue to value family ahead of friends, work, leisure time, politics and religion as the most important element in their lives. That is why, this new edition of the Eurochannel Short Films Tour will pay homage to its crucial importance.
The Eurochannel Short Films Tour has been a successful Eurochannel trademark for the last seven years. A unique event, the tour invites viewers to follow talented directors on an exciting exploration of Europe through short films: with the directors as guides, viewers discover fascinating cultures through the eyes of a filmmaker.
Program 3, titled "Away We Go" will be shown on Tuesday, January 24 at 1:00 pm at the AF Center in Southbury and also on Friday January 27 at 7:00 pm for those who prefer an evening time - also at the AF Center. The following short films will be shown:
- FRANCE (ILE-DE-FRANCE) "Bamako Saint-Afrique" - Drama, Comedy, 12 minutes
- MONTENEGRO "All of That", Drama, 13 minutes
- ARMENIA "Glimmering", Drama, 13 minutes
- BOSNIA "Redemption", Drama, 13 minutes
- CZECH REPUBLIC "Occasional Showers", Drama, 14 minutes
- IRELAND "Personal Development", Drama, 14 minutes
The Southbury Film Commission is a sub-commission of the Southbury Economic Development Commission and has as its mission to market the town of Southbury as a filming destination by promoting local professionals and support. The Southbury Film Commission welcomes volunteers, either as members or just helping with particular tasks.
