Southbury Public Library Talks Quilts on Thursday

Let's Talk About Quilts

Thursday, January 19th from 2-4pm in the Kingsley Room

This program explores the ways in which quilts have become a part of American culture and folklore. Using images of antique quilts and quilted objects, Ms. Jerome discusses some of the definitions and ideas surrounding the word "quilt." What pictures come to mind? How has the term evolved through time? The audience is encouraged to bring one quilt or quilted object with them. These objects will be used to illustrate and enhance the discussion of all-things-quilts, including care of family heirlooms.

Susan was a consultant and conservationist at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum, the Connecticut Historical Society, Connecticut Landmarks at the Nathan Hale Homestead, and the State of Rhode Island. She volunteers at the Stonington Historical Society, helping with the costume collection and the War of 1812 Stonington flag.

Registration is required. Please call the library at 203-262-0626 ext. 130
