Historian Edward Hynes will present a lecture on Danbury Raid & Battle of Ridgefield at Southbury Library

The Southbury Historical Society presents: The British Are Coming (to CT!): The Danbury Raid & Battle of Ridgefield on March 9, 2017 at Southbury Library.

On April 25, 1777, British forces landed on Compo Beach (current day Westport) between Fairfield and Norwalk with the goal of confiscating or destroying Continental Army supplies in Danbury. They were met by heavy Patriot resistance consisting of 700 regular and irregular militia.

Historian Edward Hynes will present a lecture on the four-day skirmish that followed, including the raid on Danbury and the Battle of Ridgefield. The event will take place at Southbury Library on March 9 at 7:00 pm.
