History Lecture Series with Mark Albertson at Southbury Public Library
Please note: this program takes place every Tuesday in March from 6:30-8:30pm in the Kingsley Room
Please join Professor Mark Albertson for a four-part lecture series on Jihad. Jihad, is an Arabic term meaning struggle. For Muslims, that struggle is of an internal nature, an effort by which the individual attempts to rid him or herself of those impediments which compromises their becoming one with their religion. However, the popular notion of Jihad held by many is that of Holy War. Professor Albertson, in this series, will seek to peel away the confusion, misconceptions and propagandistic perversions which hamper a proper conception of not only what is construed as the Jihadi movement, but hopefully foster-at the same time--a better understanding of one of the globe's most fascinating yet misunderstood religions.
