The Alliance Francaise of NW CT announces a special art program titled "Go, Van Gogh! presented by Michael Norris, of Armchair Art Tours to take place on Sunday, April 30 at 2pm at their AFNWCT Office located at 1 Pomperaug Office Park in Southbury.

Vincent van Gogh, born March 30, 1853, in Groot-Zundert, Netherlands was a post-impressionist painter whose work, notable for its beauty, emotion and color, highly influenced 20th century art. He struggled with mental illness, and remained poor and virtually unknown throughout his life. Van Gogh died in France on July 29, 1890, at the age of 37, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Mr. Norris received his BA in classics from the University of California at San Diego and his MA in classics and Ph.D. in art history at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He will introduce us to some of Van Gogh’s paintings especially those of the Metropolitan Museum of Art where Norris worked for twenty years.
