Southbury Film Commission Presents: Landfill Harmonic on October 24

The SFC will present "Landfill Harmonic" as the first film in a three part documentary film series, Tuesday, October 24 at 7:00 pm in Room 205 at Southbury Town Hall, 501 Main Street South.

The current films in the series will focus on music and will feature three award-winning feature-length films. "Landfill Harmonic" follows the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, a Paraguayan musical group that plays instruments made entirely out of garbage. When their story goes viral, the orchestra is catapulted into the global spotlight.

Under the guidance of idealistic music director Favio Chavez, the orchestra must navigate a strange new world of arenas and sold-out concerts. However, when a natural disaster strikes their community, the orchestra provides a source of hope for their town. The film is a testimony to the transformative power of music and the resilience of the human spirit.

Following the film, there will be a 20-30 minute panel discussion comprised of local business owners and educators sharing their experiences and knowledge on the film's subject matter.

Admission is free but seating is limited. To reserve your seat, please visit www.southbury-ct.org/SFCregistration or telephone the SFC at (203) 262-6213.
