Cultural Arts Program Presented at Pomperaug Elementary School @PomperaugES

Shane Long performed traditional songs and dances of the Eastern Woodlands people, in a cultural arts program at Pomperaug Elementary School on Tuesday, March 24.

Long taught about the culture and history of Native Americans, their relationship to the environment, and the needs of different tribes. Dressed in hand made regalia, he retold Native American stories passed down from him by his mother and grandmother, members of the Mohegan Nation.

The Young Audiences program was sponsored by the Pomperaug Elementary School PTO.

Shane Long led a Native American dance with students from Pomperaug Elementary School as part of a PTO-sponsored cultural arts program and also narrated a Mohegan deer tale with Pomperaug Elementary School fourth-graders, Vincent DelVento and Claudia Schneider.
