A Winter Weather Advisory is issued from 10 pm this evening to 10 am Friday for a 1 to 4 inch snowfall, mainly along the I-95 corridor including Metro NYC, Long Island and coastal CT.
NOAA advises residents to prepare for potential impacts from a widespread snowfall with sub-freezing temperatures tonight through Friday morning as low pressure moves off the southern mid-Atlantic coast tonight.
The heaviest snow is forecast from northeast NJ east across NYC, Long Island and southern CT; mainly 1 am-4 am west of NYC and 4 am-7 am NYC east.
Up to 2 inches of snow is forecast across the northern portions of the local area through Friday morning.
Temperatures are forecast to average around 5 degrees below normal through Friday, then near 10 degrees below normal Saturday and Sunday.
Strong gusty winds and very cold temperatures will follow, producing low wind chills Sunday, January 8 through early Monday, bottoming out near zero late Sunday night through Monday morning.
