With the cool temperatures at night and the somewhat warmer temperatures during the day, the sap is beginning to flow and we all know what that means! Maple Syrup! Believe it or not, this is a sign of spring and sugarhouses all across Connecticut are getting busy collecting and cooking this years harvest.
Today is the last local day to observe the maple sugaring process in two local sugar camps. Flanders Nature Center is having Maple Syrup Demonstrations from 1-4pm today. The Woodbury Sugar Shed will be producing syrup and welcomes visitors today from 12-5pm.
Both locations have local syrup and other products for sale. It's a fascinating experience and the rewards are delicious!
