Southbury Film Commission Announces Cowspiracy Panelists

The Southbury Film Commission (SFC) is happy to announce the addition of Sara Blersch, Owner of Daffodil Hill Growers and John Pittari, Founder and Owner of New Morning Market in Woodbury, to their panel discussion following the 90 minute screening of "Cowspiracy" on Monday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 205 at Southbury Town Hall, 501 Main Street South.

At Daffodil Hill Growers, located at 124 Horse Fence Hill Road in Southbury, Sara Blersch oversees the farm crew, crop planning and quality control in the wash/pack area. This third generation family farm focuses on growing a wide variety of vegetables for their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). They sell at 3 summer farmers markets in Newtown, Southbury and Bethel and are proud to sell and fill their CSA distribution with produce grown exclusively by their family, using organic techniques, crossed with IPM knowledge for fresh and sustainably grown produce.

For more than forty-five years, the owner of New Morning Market, John Pittari has been sharing his passion for organic food. Now a community institution, New Morning, located at 129 Main Street North in Woodbury, is a haven for shoppers who fully embrace a healthy and sustainable lifestyle or those who simply enjoy convenient, delicious food and drink. New Morning Market carefully selects each item on their shelves to ensure that only the highest quality foods and wellness products are available to their customers. John's vision for a healthy, sustainable local food community goes beyond a written mission statement - it is lived every day.

The discussion will be rounded out by panelists representing a vegan and vegetarian lifestyle, who changed their food habits for environmental as well as dietary reasons.
