Services in Woodbury for William Mannhaupt

William J. Mannhaupt

Woodbury, CT- William “Bill” Mannhaupt, longtime resident of Sandy Hook and Ridgefield, CT passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He leaves his wife of 50 years Karen (Devine) Mannhaupt; his children Jennifer Gully and her husband Michael Gully of New Milford, CT; Michael Mannhaupt of Wilmington Vermont; Emily Marchetti and her husband Dennis Marchetti of Seymour, CT; Laura Silver and Cory Silver of Danbury, CT; and his 5 grandsons, William, Vincent, Devin, Anthony, and Joseph and 3 granddaughters, Rylee, Zoe, and Vivienne.

Bill was born and raised in Queens, NY, the eldest son of William and Anna (Rinck) Mannhaupt. As an Eagle Scout and Altar boy, Bill learned the importance of faith, love and kindness to others. Bill was a daily communicant, and an active parishioner in many different churches throughout the course of his life. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from St. John’s University, and then went on to attain his Masters of Business Administration from Pace University. After a long career in corporate finance, Bill chose to travel a different path that involved his love of food and numbers by catering and helping others with their taxes and finances including his entire family’s.

Aside from his love of spending time and travelling to the Berkshires and Newport with his wife, kids and grandchildren, Bill also loved watching many different types of detective shows, and enjoyed cooking and baking for his family. His cheesecakes, home-made breads and Christmas Cookies were legendary. If you couldn’t find him in the kitchen, you would surely find him in the garden tending to his plants and vegetables.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, American Lung Association, and St. John’s University.

Services of remembrance will include calling hours on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St., Woodbury, CT and a funeral mass on Thursday, July 6, 2017 starting at 11:00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila, 146 Main St. South, Woodbury, CT.
