If you’re planning to travel to France this summer, or want a new year’s resolution that will last a lifetime… why not take a French class?
The Alliance Francaise of Northwestern CT (AFNWCT) starts its 12-week winter session of French classes the week of January 9 at its Language School located in Southbury.
Why French? Because you love Paris in the Springtime, or perhaps because you love French wine and cuisine.... And if that's not reason enough, because French is the first or second language spoken on every continent in the world.
Did you know? In Europe, 18 million children aged 5 to 11 years old learn a foreign language. English is still the top choice of language with 97% of the students from the European Union; but French is studied by 5 million little Europeans representing 34%, followed by German with 23% and Spanish – at only 13%.
CHILDREN'S CLASSES: The AFNWCT after-school French class on Tuesdays for children 3-6 years has “En Voyage” (Traveling) as its theme for vocabulary, fun classroom projects and games. “Apprenons le Français” for 7-10 year olds wanting to learn to read and write in French meets Thursdays.
ADULTS and TEENS: there are Beginners and Advanced Beginners evening classes in addition to the Intermediate French and Intermediate Conversation morning classes.
For those of you with more serious NY's learning resolutions, consider a private class tailored to your personal goals and/or travel needs.
