First Selectman Kicks Off Campaign for Re-Election

From the steps of the Southbury Town Hall yesterday evening, First Selectman Ed Edelson and his team of selectmen kicked of their Advancing Southbury campaign.

In announcing his bid for re-election to a third term, First Selectman Edelson has assembled a carefully chosen team to advance the Town of Southbury. "It is important to run with a team of well qualified candidates who can work together to advance our community. We do not want candidates who are a rubber stamp for our proposals, but the best talent in Southbury," stated First Selectman Ed Edelson. "I am excited to run with this team."

First Selecman Edelson's team is comprised of Donna Pereira, Joseph Bette and Mike Rosen.

Incumbent Donna Pereira has lived in Southbury for two decades and has served on the Board of Finance for six years. She is currently in her second term on the Board of Selectman. Pereira said "I am excited to run for a third term and am proud of what we've accomplished in the past four years. I will continue to work to insure that Southbury continues to be a wonderful town in which to work and live."

Justine Better currently serves on the Board of Finance. For the past 14 years, Just has worked with his father at Joseph Bette Realtors. He has a decade of experience serving on Southbury's Parks & Recreation Commision, the Economic Development Committee and the Board of Finance where is currently the Vice Chair. Justin stated, "I'm happy to have been born and raised in Southbury, and our team has one goal: Advancing Southbury."

Mike Rosen currently serves on the Southbury Parks & Recreation Commission and recently joined the Leadership Team of Keep America Beautiful, a national community and environmental non-profit. Rosen stated, "I am proud to contribute to this team and will bring my community dedication and non-profit experience to government. I am proud to send my kids to Pomperaug and Rochambeau schools, and I look forward to keeping our schools strong, our community beautiful, and maintaining our responsible budget."

Edelson concluded, "I am running for re-election with this team because there is still more we can do to advance Southbury. Together, we have the right skills to continue our path of progress.We will continue to build a sustainable community that is an even better place to live, raise a family, own a business, and retire. Advancing Southbury is our mission, and we are dedicated to the people of Southbury."
