First Selectman Ed Edelson sent an update on the rash of burglaries that have occurred in Southbury the last few months.
Here is his statement:
Based on information provided by residents after last Thursday's Code Red, Southbury Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for suspicious activity conducted by a 1998 black Honda Civic, a 1997 green Ford Windstar minivan, and a 1995 green Jeep Grand Cherokee. The police realize that these makes and models are common in town. Since late fall, police have investigated numerous burglaries at homes throughout Southbury and are advising people to report anything unusual.
Police say burglars have forced their way into some homes, and entered through unlocked doors in others. They have removed jewelry, electronics and other valuable items that in most cases can be sold for cash.
If you have any information or see any suspicious activity, please call the Southbury Police Department at 203-262-0639 or 911 in case of an emergency.
