State Police Make Arrest in I-84 Weapon Incident

On November 1, 2016, at 11:45 a.m., Troop A-Southbury received a 911 call from a person reporting that a handgun had been pointed at them while traveling on Interstate 84 eastbound at exit 23 in Waterbury.

The caller remained on the phone with Troop A until the vehicle was stopped just east of exit 33 in Plainville. The suspect was identified as William B. Puro, D.O.B. 11/20/1985 of Ansonia. A handgun located under the passenger side front seat of Puro’s vehicle was seized by Troopers.

Puro was arrested without incident and charged with Reckless Endangerment 1st degree and Assault with a Dangerous Instrument 3rd degree . He was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Nov. 15, 2016.
