On Monday, February 7 at approximately 10:45 am, Southbury Police responded to Chase Bank on Main Street South for a report of a female being forced by Claude Williams of Waterbury to withdraw money from her bank account. At the time of the incident, the suspect, who knew the female, was waiting for her in a vehicle, police say.
According to the police report, Southbury Police and troopers from Troop A – Southbury responded to the scene after being notified by bank employees. Williams fled the scene upon seeing police, and refused to stop engaging police in pursuit.
Pursuit ended and Williams was taken into custody after Williams crashed. Upon being taken into custody narcotics were found on Williams. No injuries to the victim or Williams was reported.
The pursuit lasted approximately 9 minutes. Williams drove around local roads in Southbury, and I-84.
