Grab a dictionary and brush up on those words that start with the letter “Q”! It’s time for Literacy Volunteers' 16th Annual Scrabble Challenge.
The event, which is co-chaired by Greenwich residents David Ball and Ann Croll and Rob Vendig of Stamford, will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Stamford Hilton Hotel. The Scrabble Challenge brings together families, school groups and members of the business community for an evening of friendly competition. Players will enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and two rounds of Scrabble.
All proceeds will support Literacy Volunteers' English-language, literacy and education services offered to residents of Fairfield County.
The 16th Annual Scrabble Challenge will be emceed by WGCH-AM morning host and news director Tony Savino.
Teams (up to three players) are forming now and a number of sponsorship opportunities are available. Teams are eligible to participate in three divisions: Corporate, Friends and Family and Schools.
Literacy Volunteers is a program of Family Centers, which offers free literacy, English language instruction and adult education services to more than 700 Fairfield County residents each year. Programs are facilitated by a team of more than 100 volunteers, who donate more than 14,000 hours each year. Computer classes, financial literacy services and work readiness program are also offered.
