Conversations with Extraordinary Women 2017

The Women’s Business Council, an arm of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, presents the 7th Annual Conversations with Extraordinary Women on Thursday, April 20th from 5 to 8pm at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury, CT.

The much-anticipated event provides the opportunity to hear from high-profile women, their incredible stories of how they got to where they are and the insights learned along the way. The theme of this year’s conversation is, “The Boys Network, does it still exist?,” and to add her commentary, the WBC is thrilled to welcome acclaimed Journalist and women’s empowerment advocate Gretchen Carlson.

Gretchen Carlson is one of the nation’s most successful and recognized news anchors and a tireless advocate for workplace equality and the empowerment of women. She most recently hosted “The Real Story” on Fox News and in 2016, became the face of sexual harassment in the workplace, gracing the cover of Time Magazine and standing strong in her determination to promote a safe working environment for all women.

Ms. Carlson will be joined by global keynote speaker and inspirational thought leader Holly Dowling. An expert in corporate women’s empowerment, Holly is the driving force behind programs for dozens of Fortune 500 companies that have led to stronger leadership, higher performance levels and more opportunities for success. A copy of Holly’s book, Hollyisms: Let Your Light Shine, will be given to the first 50 who register.

The hour and a half panel discussion will be moderated by Christine Palm, Communications & Women’s Policy Analyst with the CT Commission on Women, Children and Seniors. Ms. Palm gives sexual harassment awareness and prevention training to state agencies and institutions, is the agency’s media liaison and was nominated for a Pulitzer for her essay writing.

The evening will begin with a cocktail hour from 5-6pm, including valuable raffle prizes to be won, and follow with the panel discussion. The cost of the program is $45 for Chamber members, $55 for non-members, and $65 after April 18th. Students with a valid ID are $35. Register online at Conversations2017.eventbrite.com. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Ms. Carlson’s foundation, Gift of Courage, whose primary focus is to help girls and young women recognize their full potential and the bright future that awaits them, as well as helping women realize a safe and nurturing place in the workforce.

The event is co-sponsored by Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association, The NY-CONN Corporation and M&T Bank.
