Catalyst Marketing Communications, Inc. has hired Thomas Renner as Public Relations Account Executive. Renner spearheads the publicity for several of the agency’s key business-to-business clients and is responsible for writing press releases, identifying PR opportunities and securing local, regional and national media coverage for clients.
A resident of Bethel, Renner comes to Catalyst after an extensive and award-winning career in newspaper journalism. He previously worked for daily newspapers in Pennsylvania and New York, and at The Stamford Advocate, where he rose to the position of Sports Editor while working for the paper from 1987-2009. He most recently worked as an editor and reporter at Daily Voice, a network of hyper-local news and information websites. Renner was one of the founding editorial members of the enterprise, and helped drive its growth as the media outlet expanded from one site to a network that now has more than 50 sites and covers communities in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.
Renner is a native of Pennsylvania and graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. He lives with his wife and two college-age daughters. He is also an endurance athlete who has run 15 marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2002, 2012 and 2014. He has also participated in races to benefit The Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education in Stamford and the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
