Stamford EMS and Stamford Paramedic Association Donate 50 Turkeys to Stamford Food Bank

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Stamford EMS and the Stamford Paramedic Association made a combined donation of 50 turkeys to the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County today.  The joint gift comes just as the Food Bank expressed the need for donations.

“To be hungry at Thanksgiving is a terrible thing,” said Pete Kessler, President of the Stamford Paramedic Association, local 684, a unit of IAEP.  “We take care of people every day; this is one more way for us to serve the community.”

Those sentiments were echoed by Patricia Squires, Stamford EMS Chief and C.E.O., “Helping those in need is what we do.  We are honored to be able to contribute to the holiday meals of dozens of families in need.”

“We’re grateful for the donation,” said Kate Lombardo, Executive Director of the Food Bank.  “This is a time of year when people who wouldn’t normally ask for help feel it’s acceptable to ask for help.  As a result, we’re able to identify people that are struggling with food insecurity.”

The turkeys will be distributed to soup kitchens, emergency pantries and shelters across the region, including Inspirica, Person to Person, New Covenant House and Pacific House.  The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County is in need of 4,000 turkeys, those interested in donating should contact the food bank at (203) 358-8898.
