The Mayor’s Gallery presents “Floral Explorations” by Stamford artist Rosa Colon

Rosa E. Colón is a 1985 graduate of Colombia’s Jorge Tadeo Lozano University and also studied Architectural Expression at the National University of Colombia while taking private classes in oil painting. Colón, She emigrated to the U.S. in 2000 and immersed herself in art education under the direction of Florence-trained master artist, Enzo Russo. Since 2002 her work has been featured in a medley of solo and group exhibitions throughout the tri-state area’s galleries, corporations and universities. Colón has also curated several shows including Hispanic Heritage Month’s at Sackler Gallery and “Flower Perfume” at Arte Inc. Gallery in New Haven. She is also one of the founding members of Liber-art.org, the Stamford-based collaborative art group.
Rosa likes to capture significant moments from her life and her background in her work. She is fascinated with nature, by its outside line, forms, shapes and vibrant colors. Her paintings reflect her character and personality and she likes the simplicity as well as the complexity of nature and flowers.
Rosa is currently a member of the board of the Stamford Art Association, Loft Artists Association, Greenwich Art Council, a private art teacher- mentor, watercolor art instructor in the Stamford Public Schools’ Adult & Continuing Education.
