Stamford Twin Rinks Celebrates National Skating Month!

Stamford Twin Rinks (TR) will host a special event to celebrate National Skating Month on February 11, 2017, from 12:30-2:00pm. The Springdale Figure Skating Club (SFSC), an official U.S. Figure Skating member club based at TR, is cosponsoring the community event.

Skaters of all ages and skill levels are invited to enjoy the 90-minute public skating session at a discounted price of $8.00, including skate rentals. Beginners can get started with a free ‘mini skating lesson’, learning the basics from STR’s acclaimed professional coaching staff, while intermediate skaters can brush up on skills such as backwards skating and edges. A live DJ will have skaters gliding to the beat; after working up an appetite on the ice, customers can enjoy pizza and drink specials at TR’s Hope Street Café. Raffles and giveaways will round out an afternoon of fun for the whole family.

TR is home to one of the nation’s 20 largest U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills group lesson programs. The program utilizes the only fully certified professional coaching staff in the Northeast, earning it the coveted Excellence on Ice designation from the Professional Skaters Association. TR is now accepting registrations for Cycle 4 group classes (March 6 — April 29) in Basic Skills, figure skating, and ice hockey fundamentals. Many students pursue synchronized skating, the fastest growing discipline in the sport. The SFSC is a sponsor of the Skyliners Synchronized Skating Teams, which have competed at the national and international levels.
