The Maritime Aquarium is Going Sensory-Friendly This Saturday Morning

Join Us This Saturday, April 1 for Sensory Friendly Morning at the Maritime Aquarium.

For some, the Aquarium is a place with too many stimuli. So, we are hosting a sensory-friendly morning from 8 a.m. to noon to give guests with sensory-processing differences a fun, comfortable and accepting environment to enjoy all the Aquarium has to offer.

During "Sensory-Friendly Mornings," the Aquarium will open at 8 a.m., allowing exclusive Aquarium access prior to the 10 a.m. public opening.

From 8 a.m. to noon, lights in the Aquarium will be lower, and music and other sounds will be turned down or off. There will be a sensory-friendly seal feeding at 8:30 a.m. A designated calming room will be available. Educators will offer special activities and tactile opportunities. And you can enjoy IMAX movies shown with lower volume and the theater lights less dim.

For families that need to leave within the first 30 minutes, passes will be available to come back and try again another day.
