UPDATE: State Police Detectives Investigate Stamford Police-Involved Shooting

Connecticut State Police detectives from Western District Major Crime (WDMC) are actively investigating a police-involved shooting that took place in the Town of Stamford resulting in the death of one male suspect.

On March 21, 2016 at approximately 8:00 p.m. members from Stamford Police Department SW AT were dispatched to the area of 119 Wedgemere St., Stamford for a disturbance. During the course of the incident at least one Stamford Police Officer discharged their duty-firearm striking a male suspect at least one time.

Additional Stamford Police Officers and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on scene and provided medical care to the wounded suspect. EMS transported the male suspect to a local hospital for further evaluation of his injuries where he was later pronounced deceased.

On March 22, at approximately 12:30 a.m., at the request of the Stamford Police Department and the Stamford State Attorney's Office, detectives from Connecticut State Police WDMC respond to the scene and assumed the investigation.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) has been notified and will assist in the investigation. The OCME will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the cause and manner of death.


UPDATE: On March 21, 2016 the Stamford Police Patrol Division received a 911 call reporting that a 25-year-old male, Dylan Pape, had a gun and was threatening harm. Stamford Patrol Officers arrived on scene and set up a perimeter to contain the situation. Officers attempted to speak with Pape in an effort to resolve the issue. Stamford SW AT team members and K9 Officers responded to the scene to assist in the situation. After an hourlong intense negotiation with Pape, the situation deteriorated, resulting in two Stamford Police Officers (members of SW AT team) discharging their firearms and striking Pape.

The Stamford Police personnel involved in the shooting are identified as:

1) Lieutenant Christopher Baker, a 16 year veteran of the Stamford Police Department

2) Sergeant Steven Perrotta, a 12 year veteran of the Stamford Police Department.
