The Maritime Aquarium & Stew Leonard's Team Up for Water Safety with Stewie the Duck

The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk will host a day of fun and learning with Stewie the Duck and the water safety experts from Stew Leonard III Children’s Charities on Thursday, July 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The first 400 families who sign a Water Safety Pledge, in which children promise to never swim alone, will receive a complimentary copy of Stewie the Duck Learns to Swim, a child’s first guide to water safety penned by Stew and Kim Leonard, co-founders of Stew Leonard III Children's Charities.

Stew and Kim Leonard also will host a special reading of Stewie the Duck Learns to Swim at 11:15 a.m. near the Harbor Seals Exhibit in Newman’s Own Hall. Joining them will be Stewie the Duck himself, who will lead children in singing Stewie’s signature song, “Don’t Jump In ’Til You Learn to Swim!” A second reading and singalong will take place at 1:15 p.m. with Stew & Kim’s daughter, Chase, and Stewie the Duck.

Plus, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Aquarium guests can get crafy and make a pool noodle boat and a Stewie the Duck headband.
