There is something amazing that happens when you have your first sip of a high quality local brew that makes you want to go mmmm. CT Beer Week kicked off yesterday and runs through Saturday, May 17. You can expect to see tap takeovers happening all over the state as well as beer tastings and beer festivals! Currently Connecticut has over twenty different craft breweries operating in the state with each one bringing it's own twist to the classic beer we all grew up with.
There are four breweries local to Seymour. You can find Cavalry Brewing in Oxford, New England Brewing Co in Amity, Southport Brewery and Brew Pub in Milford and Two Roads Brewery and Brew Pub in Stratford. Each brewery offers something different so no matter what your experience or favorite beer style is, you are sure to find something amazing at each one.
Another tradition of CT Beer are the beer festivals! Seymour is not new to craft beer. In fact, Seymour started hosting Smoke in The Valley back in 2011 and has grown quickly to become the largest Craft Beer & Chili Festival in the state. Smoke in the Valley will be back again bigger and better in October 2014. In the mean time, you can check out The 20th Annual CT Craft Brewer's Fest happening at Jesse Camille's in Naugatuck this Saturday, May 17th from 4:30-7:30 p.m. There will be 200+ breweries with live entertainment and food! I will be there along with my husband pouring beer for Berkshire Brewing Company so please stop by, say hi and have a beer with me.
