Every March, the Stratford Republican host their annual Lincoln Day Dinner Fundraiser at Mill River Country Club, on March 22, 2014 where awards are given to outstanding members of the Stratford Republican Party and candidates for statewide and federal office address the gathering. With a hotly contested gubernatorial race this year, all three major candidates for governor who are seeking the GOP nomination gave keynote addresses at the event and visited Stratford. The keynote speakers included Republican Gubernatorial Candidates Ambassador Tom Foley, State Senator John McKinney and Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton.
During the ceremony, Dave Fuller was awarded the Karl Sholanich Award and Louis DeCilio was awarded the Raymond Baldwin Awards for their volunteerism in the past two years to the Stratford Republican Party. The following week, the Stratford Republican Town Committee re-elected its officers for another two year term, which expires in March 2016.
In a packed room of members and guests, the Executive Officers were praised for their dedication, leadership and commitment to the party and to the town. The election went smooth; the current officers were nominated and unchallenged. The temporary chair Chris Silhavey declared them winners and they were met with applause and a standing ovation.
The elected officers include, Louis A. DeCilio who will be serving his 3rd term as Chairman. Lin Scheck will be serving an unprecedented 14th term as Vice Chair. William Cabral will be serving his 11th term as Treasurer and Barbara Aldrich will be serving her 4th term as Secretary.
The Stratford Republican Town Committee is comprised of eighty elected members, eight from each of the ten town council districts; they serve two year terms and meet the last Thursday of the month. Meetings are open to all registered Republicans.
