Cookbook Series Expands Local Author’s Reach

Dr. Peter D’Adamo, a Wilton based naturopathic physician and author, teams up with a local chef to produce cookbooks based on his popular Blood Type Diet.

You may have heard of Dr. Peter D’Adamo; he’s the author of the New York Times best-selling diet book, Eat Right for Your Type, also known as the Blood Type Diet. While his theory is controversial - some nutritionists dismiss his ideas - people who follow the program, including many celebrities like Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr, British songstress Cheryl Cole, and the 40+ star of the TV series, “Cougar Town”, Courtney Cox, all applaud D’Adamo’s blood type based dieting approach.

More than 16 years after the publication of Eat Right for Your Type, Dr. D’Adamo has built quite a reputation in the medical community – he’s published 18 other books on diet and nutrition, teaches at the University of Bridgeport’s College of Naturopathic Medicine, opened two D’Adamo Personalized Nutrition stores (one in Wilton, the other in trendy Williamsburg, Brooklyn) and has a thriving nutritional supplement business and clinic on Danbury Road -now he’s introducing four new e-cookbooks to the line-up! D’Adamo teamed up with Ridgefield native, Chef Kristin O’Connor, to create the Personalized Living Using the Blood Type Diet e-cookbooks. Published in electronic form, the books can be purchased from Amazon and downloaded to any electronic devise through Kindle’s e-reader application or Kindle e-reading devices. Each of the four cookbooks contain more than 150 recipes that feature foods that D’Adamo considers beneficial for people of each of the four blood types (Blood Type A, Blood Type O, Blood Type B, and Blood Type AB).

According to D’Adamo, eating these foods will not only help you to lose weight, they will contribute to your overall health. O’Connor is a devotee of the diet herself. After dealing with some chronic health issues, O’Connor’s condition significantly improved after becoming a patient of Dr. D’Adamo and adapting her diet to suit her blood type. O’Connor called upon her experience as an Associate Producer for Food Network and Cooking Channel to adapt traditional recipes to her Blood Type O diet. D’Adamo and O’Connor collaborated to develop recipes, menu planning strategies and pantry-stocking tips for the e-cookbooks which will be available through Amazon.com on February 14. Says O’Connor, “To combine my philosophies on health with my love of cooking by writing this series of cookbooks is sincerely a dream come true.” As a continuation of the lifestyle cookbooks, O’Connor and D’Adamo have developed a blog, Personalized Living Using the Blood Type Diets, http://drumhillbooks.com/blog/ to support individuals who are interested in healthy eating and the Blood Type Diet.
