Near & Far Aid Designer House Tour: May 2

Fairfield, Conn -- Following a chilly and snowy winter, long-time philanthropic organization Near & Far Aid will once again delight patrons with its annual Designer House Tour, a destination event that ushers in the spring season like blooming dogwoods and daffodils. The tour is the preeminent destination for lovers of impressive architecture and the latest trends in decorating and unique design.

The 2014 Designer House Tour, "Celebrating the Art of Living" will take place on Friday, May 2nd, and will feature homes in the exclusive enclaves of Fairfield, Southport and Westport. The House Tour will allow patrons to meander the halls and ogle finely decorated homes from waterfront mansions to back country estates.

Every house reflects the unique personality, creativity, taste and special interests of the owner whether it is a garden, a view or simply its ambiance, which elicits a particular sense of attraction to each visitor.

The Designer House Tour has evolved into one of the four successful events that Near & Far Aid holds annually with the help of hundreds of community volunteers. The organization since 2000, has granted over $13 million to Fairfield County agencies helping to break the cycle of poverty.

"The Designer House Tour provides patrons a glimpse of fine living in Fairfield County, showcasing exquisite homes and décor while letting Near & Far Aid continue its important work of providing support programs helping families at risk, homelessness and adults in crisis and other causes," said Near & Far Aid President Bitsy Higgins of Westport. "We're excited for this signature event as it always proves to be an inspiring and fun day and it's another way the community underscores its spirit in helping others through this significant fundraiser."

"Beautiful settings, and a beautiful cause, Near & Far Aid's Designer House Tour, demonstrates how people create their homes and an environment that underscores their own unique style and reflection," said Kelly Scinto of Fairfield, Chairwoman of the 2014 Designer House Tour. "Not only are we celebrating the 'art of living' as spring blooms, we're also assisting Near & Far Aid to continue to help our neighbors in need."

A pre-tour breakfast will take place prior to the day's event at the Patterson Club in Fairfield which will feature a nationally-renowned designer as its keynote speaker.

To culminate the House Tour, Near & Far Aid will host its "Toast the Tour" cocktail reception at the Fairfield County Hunt Club during the evening of May 2. The celebration will be held under a Sperry sailcloth tent on the polo field and will feature a Luxury Car Show presented by Miller Motorcars, savory hors d'oeuvres, top shelf martini and champagne stations as well as specialty hand rolled cigars.
