Westport Writers’ Workshop Hosts Back-to-School Benefit Party on Sept. 16

Westport Writers’ Workshop (WWW) will hold a Back-to-School Benefit Party on Saturday, September 16, at the Greenwich home of Board member Linda Waterbury and her husband, Jim. Fiction workshop participant Melissa Newman (pictured) will entertain the crowd with her jazz ensemble, and Michael Judge of Greenhook Ginsmiths will hold an artisanal gin tasting. Party-goers will receive the latest issue of Sentences, the WWW-financed literary journal that features the work of inmates from Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown.

The Waterburys generously hosted last year’s inaugural benefit, an event that raised over $18,000. Proceeds support WWW’s outreach programs, which benefit underserved populations such as inmates, mothers of special-needs children and middle school, inner-city students. A registered 501 (c) 3 non-profit, WWW also presents community events such as local readings.
