Person-to-Person Receives Grant from Westport Sunrise Rotary

The 21st Century Foundation and Board of the Westport Sunrise Rotary awarded a $2,000 grant to Person-to-Person for the Emergency Assistance Program.

According to P2P Executive Director Ceci Maher, grants to this program help those who are most in need. “Through the Emergency Assistance Program, people in crisis receive assistance that helps them put food on the table, secure safe housing, keep the lights on and clothe their family. While the number of emergency assistance providers in this area has declined over the years, Person-to-Person continues to be a strong and vital resource for these essential services.”

Reviewing applications from area non-profits, the Charitable Giving Committee looked for organizations with “exceptional programs delivered in a professional, resourceful and sensitive manner.” Maher says that receiving this grant is very much appreciated, as is the Westport Sunrise Rotary’s acknowledgment of the way in which the program is administered and that P2P clients are treated with dignity and respect.

Maher notes that Westport Sunrise Rotary supports Person-to-Person in a variety of ways. “Just last month, the Rotarians staged a food drive at a local Stop & Shop, collecting over 4,800 pounds of food and more than $390 in cash donations for the Norwalk Food Pantry. P2P is fortunate to have Westport Sunrise Rotary as a dedicated and generous community partner.”
