Virtual Vacation Matinee Series at the Westport Library

Are you staying home in August and enjoying summer's treasures right here in Westport?

If travel is not in your cards this summer, why not enjoy a virtual vacation each week with the Westport Library's matinee film series.

The Westport Library is offering a "Virtual Vacation" series of films in August, which are free and open to the public, and will be shown in the McManus Room on the Tuesdays noted below at 2 pm:

Tuesday, August 5:The Grand Budapest Hotel tells of the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel before World War II, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The film was directed by Wes Anderson and stars Ralph Fiennes (2014, 100 mins.).

Tuesday, August 12: In A Birder's Guide to Everything, starring Ben Kingsley, a 15-year-old birding fanatic thinks that he's made the discovery of a lifetime. So, on the eve of his father's remarriage, he escapes on an epic road trip with his best friends to solidify their place in birding history (2013 , 86 mins.).

Tuesday, August 19: Through its cinematography, score and award-winning performance by Toni Servillo, The Great Beauty, directed by Paolo Sorrentino, is a Fellini-esque tale of decadence and lost love, and winner of the 2014 Oscar for Best Foreign Film (Italian with subtitles, 2013, 142 mins.).

Tuesday, August 26: In Le Week-end, Academy Award-winner Jim Broadbent and Lindsay Duncan play a long-married British couple revisiting Paris for the first time since their honeymoon in an attempt to rekindle their relationship (2013, 93 mins.).
