Music for Youth's Opening Concert, September 20: Pianist, Roman Rabinovich

Music for Youth will launch its 2014 -2015 FREE YOUNG PERSONS' CONCERT SERIES with award winning pianist Roman Rabinovich on Saturday, September 20th, 2014, at 2 PM at the Pequot Library in Southport.

The young Israeli pianist's astounding concert resumé began at the age of ten when he made his first appearance with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Zubin Mehta. Over the years he has appeared in solo recitals and orchestras throughout Israel, Europe, and the United States. He has accumulated prestigious musical awards including the Vendome Virtuosi in 2006, the Animato Competition in 2007, and the coveted Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in 2008. This spring and summer he has been touring across the US with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, an orchestra he has performed with since he was ten years old. Born in 1985 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, at the age of six he began his piano studies. When his parents immigrated to Israel he studied with Irena Vishnevitsky and later with Professor Arieh Vardi at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv. In the states, Rabinovich studied under Seymour Lipkin at the Curtis Institute. Roman also excels as a gifted artist and has won prizes as a painter. He often combines his concerts with exhibitions of his paintings.
