Hear a performance from celebrated American jazz pianist, composer and recording artist Joe Utterback on Sunday, September 14, at 2 pm in the Westport Library's McManus Room. The program is free and open to the public.
"Dr. Joe" is a featured performer from the Tony Awards dinners in New York City to music festivals across the country. He infuses familiar blues, ballads, Broadway and jazz classics with a dynamic style. A professor for more than 20 years at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, he has served since 1996 as Director of Music and organist at the First Congregational Church in Stratford. An internationally recognized composer, Utterback has created jazz-influenced works for piano, organ, harpsichord, voice and instrumental combinations, which have won him ASCAP awards annually since 1991. His more than 225 compositions have been performed in concert venues and in church services worldwide.
