Paul Bogaev: Music Director, Conductor and Composer

Award-winning music director, arranger, conductor and composer Paul Bogaev will be the Y’s Men of Westport/Weston’s featured speaker at its October 15th meeting at the Congregational Church, at 245 Post Road East, Westport.

Bogaev received his first Grammy for Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida, for which he produced, orchestrated and conducted the Tony award-winning score. He was also music director on Broadway for Tarzan, Bombay Dreams, Sunset Boulevard and many other successful musicals. His second Grammy was as executive producer of the soundtrack of the Oscar-winning film musical, Chicago.

The multi-talented musician served as music director of three ABC-TV film musicals, Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Annie and South Pacific. He has worked with many pop, film and theater stars, including Barbra Streisand, Sting, Phil Collins, Toni Braxton, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy, and Catherine Zeta Jones, as well as Sophia Loren.

Most recently, our speaker recorded The Gettysburg Address, accompanied by his original score, starring fellow Connecticut Yankee, Glenn Close speaking the text.

The Y's Men of Westport/Weston is an organization of semi-retired and retired men with a continued interest in activity, fellowship, learning and community service.
