Wilton Library to Hold 2nd Annual Local Author Showcase

On Saturday, July 16 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Wilton Library will once again bring local area authors together for its annual Local Author Showcase.

Authors will be available to meet and greet book lovers in an informal setting during Wilton’s Sidewalk Sale. Readers and fans will be able to stop and chat, purchase the authors’ books, and get them signed during this open house at the library. There is no registration and no fee for the author event.

Two Westport authors will be at the event to meet readers and sign books.

Helen Martin Block is the author of The Shoemaker's Daughter A Novel, a love story set against the backdrop of the dark days of World War II. The book has received rave reviews, including the following from Kirkus Indie:

Block writes in a sharp lurching prose that captures the artful poetry of forced marches, clacking train cars and orders barked in many languages. She illustrates not only the desolate, selfish calamity of the war, but also the unsentimental love that takes root in such a setting …. An engaging story of love in the worst of circumstances.

Thomas G. Fiffer is Senior Editor at The Good Men Project (and editor of Westport's HamletHub). The articles collected in his book, Why It Can't Work: Detaching From Dysfunctional Relationships to Make Room for True Love, have been read millions of times and help readers navigate the minefield of dysfunctional relationships.

“I have read your book a half a dozen times already, and am absolutely inspired. You articulate your experience with such clarity and poise, which is so impressive after overcoming all of the personal pain that you endured in your own bout with dysfunctional relationships. You are extremely effective in connecting with the reader on a deep level without ever sounding preachy. Your voice is authentic and inspirational. After escaping the fog of back to back dysfunctional relationships, I am learning how to identify my role in the dynamic, while finding empowerment in making healthier choices that protect me as I open myself up to healthier, deeper, loving, supportive and compassionate relationships. Thank you for all that you do.”

— Sasha Joseph Neulinger, Director, Rewind to Fast-Forward

The Library will also participate in the Wilton Sidewalk Sale with a book sale fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds from all book sales benefit the Library.
