Common Application Consultant Liz Waltzman will be a featured essay expert at Westport Library’s “Countdown to College Expo” on Sept. 16. The free and open to the public event will be held from 9:30 - 4 p.m. and include workshops, essay and application review appointments, practice standardized tests, a luncheon, and several speakers. Guests need to register online for lunch, appointments, and practice tests at westportlibrary.org. Waltzman, of Write Ahead College Essays, will meet with registered students for 15-minute sessions between 10 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
Waltzman founded Write Ahead College Essays in 2013 and has since worked with high school juniors and seniors throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties on the Common Application. Waltzman guides students through the process of brainstorming, composing and editing personal statements, supplemental essays, and all other application writing. An encouraging facilitator and coach, Waltzman recognizes it’s the student’s story and voice that are paramount and ensures both are prominent.
“Reducing Common Application stress is my main objective," says Waltzman. "I work with clients at any stage - focusing on the creative and technical aspects of the writing process, providing guidance on the personal statement, supplemental essays, and activities section. It’s such rewarding work; I look forward to assisting eager students at the College Expo and beyond.”
“Countdown to College Expo” is aimed to answer questions, provide resources, and ultimately prepare students for their college journey.
