Sunday Baroque Concert at The Guest House on Sacred Heart University’s West Campus

WSHU Public Radio will present a special concert in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Sunday Baroque, the station’s nationally distributed program of early classical music. It will take place on Sunday, October 29th at 4pm at The Guest House on Sacred Heart University’s West Campus (the former GE Headquarters).

Sunday Baroque host and flutist Suzanne Bona, along with pianist and internationally recognized music educator Brenda Moore Miller, will perform a varied program of music for flute and piano. They will play Sonatas by Baroque composers Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel and Princess Amalia of Prussia, as well as exciting works by contemporary American composers, such as the charming Five Bagatelles by Massachusetts native Dianne Goolkasian Rahbee. A complete concert program is below.

“The fact that we’re celebrating 30 years of Sunday Baroque underscores WSHU’s deep and longstanding commitment to classical music in our community. It’s part  of our mission,” said WSHU General Manager George Lombardi. Sunday Baroque began in September of 1987 as a local, 90-minute radio show hosted by Fairfield, CT native Suzanne Bona. It has since grown into the enormously popular, 6-hour program that airs every Sunday on WSHU…and which is distributed to 170 stations across the country and heard by more than a quarter million listeners nationwide.

“All of our locally-originating classical programs—Classical Music with Kate Remington, Classical Music with Lauren Rico, and Sunday Baroque—have one thing in common: incredibly knowledgeable hosts who are passionate about sharing the music with our community,” Lombardi continued.
