Final Round of GBYO Concerto Competition, Jan. 6

The concert is free and open to the public. The Concerto Competition has been part of GBYO’s program for the past 30 years. It offers GBYO's most accomplished young musicians a chance to perform as Soloist with the Principal Orchestra at GBYO’s annual Spring Concert in May. This year’s competition features musicians from Fairfield, Trumbull, Weston, Guilford and Watertown, CT on a variety of wind, brass and string instruments. The competition will be adjudicated by GBYO Music Director Christopher Hisey, GBYO Conductors Carrie Mascaro and Erica Messina, and Fernando Jimenez, Conductor of orchestras and bands at Western Connecticut State University.

Each musician will play one movement of a concerto for the panel of judges. Finalists for the Concerto Competition were selected by preliminary audition in November. Seating is first come, first served, so be sure to arrive early to secure your place in the audience.  Doors will open at 1:45pm.
